Salary & Benefits

Below is a summary of the salary and benefits generally available to Rowan-Salisbury School System employees. Job classifications, years of service, hours employed, and the number of months worked per year determine the types and levels of benefits available.

  • Teacher supplements are calculated at 8% of the base salary as a teacher. The supplement is divided in half and paid twice a year. Supplements are also pro-rated accordingly to the start date for new employees.

     

    Examples: 

    • Base Salary (Step 0): $41,000= $3,280 supplement
    • Base Salary (Step 10): $49,350 = $3,948 supplement
    • Base Salary (Step 25): $55,950= $4,476 supplement
  • Assistant Principal – Elementary School $ 3116
    Assistant Principal – Middle School $ 3716
    Assistant Principal – High School $ 4316
    Principal – Elementary School $ 5000
    Principal – Middle School $ 7000
    Principal – High School $ 9000

          
    Supplements for 11 and 12-month employees will be pro-rated accordingly.

     

    Principals earn a retention supplement in addition the local supplement they already receive.

    0-3 years $ 3000
    4-5 years $ 7000
    6 years $ 10000

     

  • All full-time employees receive one day of sick leave each month. Annual Leave is detailed in the chart below and is accrued based on years of experience.

  • Health insurance is available to Rowan-Salisbury School System employees through the State Health Plan.

     

    New employees have 30 days to enroll in the State Health Plan. Additional changes can be made during open enrollment each October or within 30 days of a qualifying life event.

  • The Rowan-Salisbury School System has contracted with McCombs Counseling to provide employees with an Employee Assistance Program at no cost.
